See How Marriage used to be Sweet; Before the Love of Money Started Scattering Homes

What you're about to read was written by a professor who's worried about what marriage has become. It's a comparative analysis between wives of today and wives of the good days by Prof. Yusuf Dankofa:

1). Yesterday's Wives
Welcome my husband, hope the office was not stressful., your favorite food is ready, let me lead you to the bathroom first, then you take your dinner, you look so tired, am sure you'll be okay after taking your dinner, welcome my one and only.

Some Today's Wives
Please don't put unnecessary pressure on me, you can go to the fridge pick up the soup and microwave it and boil some rice, I'm your wife and not your slave. We are equal, nothing like a head.

2). Yesterday's Wives
Darling stop thinking about our lack of money. Its going to be temporary. God will see us through and we are going to come out of it stronger. After all, we can still feed ourselves and the children. We need to give the Almighty that glory. I am with you through thick and thin, my husband.

Some Today's Wives
Look I am sick and tired of living in this condition with you. Why did you bring me to your house when you know that you are not ready for marriage? Every day you come with one complaint or the other. Are you the Complainant General of Nigeria? We don't have a big car, our house is in Abule-Egba, when your mates are in the Island and Ikeja. Look if you don't do something, you will come back and not find me in this your nonsense house.

3). Yesterday's Wives
My husband, we only have 3 children, don't you think we should have more? You know children are gifts and mercies from God. Who knows, one of these children will make us proud tomorrow.

Some Today's Wives
Look am sick and tired of this marriage. You won't allow me to rest by your constant urge to have more children. I am okay with our two children. I can't allow you to spoil my figure 8 by bearing another 4 children. You are so wicked that I feel you want to spoil my psychedelic looks. If you dare disturb me one this bed again, I will sue you for r*pe.

4). Yesterday's Wives
My husband, take heart and don't worry. I shall go with you to Zaria. Your being transferred from Lagos to Zaria might be a blessing in disguise. We shall take the advantage of the less expensive schools over their to save the huge money we spend for our children's education, for future purposes. This your transfer could just be a blessing.

Some Today's Wives
Me I can't follow you to Zaria o. God forbid bad thing. From Lagos to Zaria? I can't cope with such nonsense. To start living in a local town without my friends? You had better look for another wife. I can't live in a town without SilverBirds, Shoprite and other big places. You're on your own please.

5). Yesterday's Wives
My husband, I have enough clothes. This N1,000 you are giving me, keep it and save for a rainy day.

Some Today's Wives
Why are you so stingy? Do you have super glue in your palms? What kind of shopping do you want me to do with just N10,000? What can I buy? Do I look like a cheap girl? I am disappointed in you. Your mates are buying iPhone for their girlfriends and wives, giving them $10,000 to go Dubai, you are here humiliating me with ordinary Naira. I don't blame you. It is because I refused to marry my ex-boyfriend because of XYZ reason, that's why you are messing with me. In fact, I will leave your house.

- The spirit of 'instant gratification' is catching up with many. I wish our ladies of today will be patient enough to understand their purpose in marriage. Build a sustainable life, not just to enjoy today!

Abuja Doctor to Divorce Wife over Her Addiction to Telemundo, Ignoring Wife Duties

*She forgot to pick our daughter from school because she was watching Telemundo
A Pediatrician based in Abuja, Mr Chibuzor Eze has threatened to divorce his wife of so many years for her addiction to popular foreign soap operas, Telemundo and Zeeworld.

He said, "I will divorce my wife if she doesn’t stop with this Zeeworld and Telemundo obsession.

"I told her last week that I was fed up with how her obsession with these channels was making her to neglect her duty as a wife and mother. Yet she keeps watching these shows when she’s supposed to be partaking in more important things like taking care of the children and cooking reasonable food for us."

Eze, who works with a government hospital, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday that he had already informed his wife, Dorothy that her obsession to the soaps was interfering with her marital life.

The pediatrician said he had to buy food from restaurants some times, as his wife had either forgotten to get what the family would eat ready or burnt the food she was preparing because of Telemundo.

"Tell me, is this not enough to sue for divorce. As a doctor, I have a very hectic job and should come home to eat something and relax. I have purchased foods from restaurants four times in the last week, because I came home to an empty pot or burnt food and this is unacceptable." he insisted.

He continued, "This is after I talked and complained to her about the effect Zee world and Telemundo are having on her. On Tuesday, she forgot to pick our 10-year-old daughter from school because she was watching her shows.

"If these careless acts continue, I will be forced to leave her, because I won’t appreciate coming home to a burnt down house one day .’’

- The husband should just remove the TV for some time and the wife will relax, no need for divorce.

Read Buhari's remark at the signing of the 2016 budget into law

Buhari signed the 2016 budget into law today. Read his remark during the signing below
1. It gives me great pleasure today to sign the first full-year budget of this administration into law. I thank the leadership of the National Assembly, in particular, the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and indeed all members of the National Assembly for their cooperation in making this a reality.
 2. The budget is intended to signpost a renewal of our commitment to restoring the budget as a serious article of faith with the Nigerian people. This Administration is committed to ensuring that henceforth the annual appropriation bill is presented to the National Assembly in time for the passage of the Act before the beginning of the fiscal year.

3. Through the 2016 budget, aptly titled "Budget of Change’’, the government seeks to fulfill its own side of the social contract. The Budget I have signed into law provides for aggregate expenditures of N6.06trn. Further details of the approved budget, as well as our Strategic Implementation Plan for the 2016 budget, will be provided by the Honourable Minister of Budget and National Planning.

4. I shall be speaking in more details about the Budget, its implementation and the over-all national economic and social policies of the Government in my address on May 29th, God willing.

5. In designing the 2016 budget, we made a deliberate choice to pursue an expansionary fiscal policy despite the huge decline in government revenues from crude oil exports. This is why we decided to enlarge the budget deficit at this time, to be financed principally through foreign and domestic borrowings. All borrowings will however be applied towards growth-enhancing capital expenditures.

6. The signing of the budget today will trigger concerted efforts to reflate the Nigerian economy, a key element of which is an immediate injection of N350bn into the economy by way of capital projects. To illustrate our renewed commitment to infrastructural development, the 2016 budget allocates over N200bn to road construction as against a paltry N18bn allocated for same purpose in the 2015 budget.

7. Despite the current difficulties we will work extra-hard to achieve our revenue projections. Our revenue generating agencies are coming under better management and are being re-oriented. The implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) is expected to contribute significantly to improving transparency over government revenues.

8. Our determined fight against corruption is resulting in improvements in the quality of public expenditure. The work of the Efficiency Unit, as well as other public financial management initiatives, are also contributing in this regard. The continuing efforts to reduce recurrent expenditures should hopefully free up more funds for capital expenditure in 2017 and beyond.

9. As I said in my New Year message, living in State House does not in any way alienate me from your daily struggles. I read the newspapers and listen to the TV and radio news. I hear your cries. I share your pains.

10. We are experiencing probably the toughest economic times in the history of our Nation. I want to commend the sacrifice, resilience and toughness of all Nigerians young and old who have despite the hardships continued to have hope and confidence of a great future for Nigerians. But permit me to say that this government is also like none other. We are absolutely committed to changing the structure of the Nigerian economy once and for all.

11.We are working night and day to diversify the economy so that we never again have to rely on one commodity to survive as a country. So that we can produce the food we eat, make our own textiles, produce most of the things we use. We intend to create the environment for our young peoples to be able to innovate and create jobs through technology.

12. I cannot promise you that this will be an easy journey, but in the interest of so much and so many we must tread this difficult path. I can assure you that this government you have freely elected will work with honesty and dedication, day and night to ensure that our country prospers and that the prosperity benefits all Nigerians. God bless Federal Republic of Nigeria
