Security situation has improved, says President Buhari


Wanke (Zamfara) – President Muhammadu Buhari has said that security situation has improved in the country since he took over the mantle of leadership. Buhari said the situation would continue to improve under his leadership. The President stated this on Wednesday in Wanke village in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara during a one-day working visit to the state. President Buhari interacts with troops of HQ 1 BDE in Dansadau Zamfara State as part of the 2016 Nigerian Army Day celebration on 13th July He expressed confidence in the ability of the Nigerian security agencies to contain any form of terrorism in any part of the country. He also said that the Federal Government, through its micro economic and monetary policies of the Central Bank, would soon revitalise the nation’s economic sector. President Buhari said that part of his visit to the state was to encourage the military that were currently in the state for the 2016 Nigerian Army Day celebration. He said this year’s event aimed partly to root out cattle rustlers and armed bandits in the state as well as in neighbouring states of Kaduna, Kebbi, Katsina and Sokoto. Earlier, Gov. Abdul’Aziz Yari said the president had rekindled the hopes of Nigerians through his policies and programmes. “In order to complement the Federal Government’s efforts to address security issues in the state, more access roads have been opened to ease the operations of security agents. “It is only when the fight against criminals is won that the state’s economy can improve,’’Yari said. He appealed to the Federal Government to continue to come up with meaningful programmes that would be replicated by the states for the benefit of Nigerians.

Senators not plotting Buhari’s impeachment in my house -Wamakko



Senator Aliyu Wamakko, the Chairman of Senate Committee on Basic and Secondary Education has denied reports that meetings were being held in his house to strategies on the impeachment proceeding's against President Muhammad Buhari.

The Senator representing Sokoto North Senatorial District said this in a statement issued on Wednesday in reaction to reports that he has been holding regular meetings with some of his colleagues in his residence on how to tackle the executive over the ongoing trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki fo forgery.

“To set the records straight, a meeting was only held in my residence towards finding amicable solution to the frosty relationship between the Executive and Legislature.

“We have observed the growing disharmony between the two arms, and we resolved that finding amicable solution to the impasse will move the nation forward and give the president focus to pursue his Change Agenda.

“As a principled politician, I have no cause to scheme against the president and the party I campaigned for or the cause I believe in.

“Let me once again reiterate that we hold the president in high esteem, and we will do our best towards ensuring that there is cordial relationship and harmony between the two arms of government,” Wammako said in the statement.
